Application Scenario for Outdoor Remote Viewing

The Malachi Lake in Ontario, Canada is a recreation lake with about 19- property owners. Most of the owners live in the city, 3 hours away from the lake and they would like to be able to view weather conditions on the lake before traveling there. During the transition from summer to winter and from winter to summer, property owners want to know if the lake will be frozen or not. The view around the lake is astonishingly beautiful and if a property owner cannot be at the lake personally, they have a alternative to enjoy it from the camera.

Brickcom Camera Solution

In this case, the end customers needed an outdoor solution to meet the winter temperatures and at the same time good quality pictures were requested. They chose Brickcom OB-100Ap outdoor bullet camera as the final solution since the OB-100Ap offers “Real Time” HDTV video at 720p @30fps giving end user smooth, seamless video. Moreover, the OB-100Ap is extreme weatherproof. The operating temperature is extended from -40° to +60°C (-40° to +140°F), ensuring camera operations even in harsh conditions. The IP67 outdoor enclosure makes it suitable for this outdoor case.

Success

The users configured the camera to send a snapshot via email every day at noon. It helps the users to check remotely the conditions of the lake. “It is much easier to monitor lake conditions before travelling there. In some years there is ice on the lake by early November. This year (2011) for example, the camera shows there is no ice yet. So people were able to access the lake and use their boat to get to their property.” said Patrick, one of the end user in this case.
