Installation

  • 1.1 How do I use the EasyConfig Wizard?

    1. Launch the EasyConfig software from your start menu or desktop icon. If EasyConfig is not installed on your computer, insert the Brickcom Software CD into your computer and follow the installation instructions.
    2. Check “Skip the hardware installation guide” and press “Start” for EasyConfig to skip the hardware installation steps. You can also press “Start” without checking it, and EasyConfig will guide you through the steps for you to verify the cable connection.
    3. Select either the Simple Mode or Professional Mode for the connection setup. If Simple Mode is selected, EasyConfig will set up the connection automatically. If Professional Mode is selected, you will need to configure the IP manually. Click the arrow to continue.
    4. EasyConfig will search for available cameras on the LAN. Select your IP Camera, enter the camera login information, and press “OK” to continue.
    5. If Professional Mode is selected, you will need to select the IP Address Settings and click the arrow to continue. The DHCP setting is recommended.
    6. If the connection is successful, you will have completed the EasyConfig setup.

  • 1.2 How do I assign the IP Camera a Static IP Address?

    Please follow the procedure described below:

    1. Launch the EasyConfig software from your start menu or desktop icon.
    2. Check “Skip the hardware installation guide” and press “Start” for EasyConfig to skip the hardware installation steps. You can also press “Start” without checking it, and EasyConfig will guide you through the steps for you to verify the cable connection.
    3. Select Professional Mode to configure the IP address manually. Click the arrow to continue.
    4. EasyConfig will search for available cameras on the LAN. Select your IP Camera, enter the camera login information, and press “OK” to continue.
    5. For selecting the IP Address settings, select “Set IP Address configuration manually” and click the arrow to continue.
    6. Enter the Static IP Address to configure the IP Camera and click the arrow to continue.
    7. If the connection is successful, you will have completed the EasyConfig setup and assigned a Static IP Address to your IP Camera.

  • 1.3 How do I locate my IP Camera on the intranet??

    Please refer to "How to use the setup wizard?"

    1. Launch the EasyConfig software from your start menu or desktop icon.
    2. Check “Skip the hardware installation guide” and press “Start” for EasyConfig to skip the hardware installation steps. You can also press “Start” without checking it, and EasyConfig will guide you through the steps for you to verify the cable connection.

  • 1.4 What is the difference between the Simple Mode and Professional Mode?

    To obtain the network camera IP settings, users can either use the default Simple Mode or Professional Mode. Simple Mode will automatically set up the network connection. This setting is recommended. With Professional Mode, the user will need to configure the IP address manually.

Maintenance

  • 2.1 What is the default IP Camera administrator username and password?

    The default username and password for all Brickcom IP Cameras is “admin” and “admin” respectively.

  • 2.2 How do I change the IP Camera administrator password?

    Please follow the procedure described below:

    1. Login to the IP Camera Web GUI using Internet Explorer.
    2. Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → User Management.
    3. Enter a new password for the Admin account and confirm the password.
    4. Press “Update” to change the password.
  • 2.3 What do I do if I forget my username and password for the IP Camera?

    The username for the administrator account of the IP Camera is saved as “admin.” If the administrator password is lost, you must restore the IP Camera to the original factory default settings by pressing the reset button on the IP Camera. The administrator username and password will be reset to “admin” and “admin.” Launch EasyConfig to access the IP Camera and change the administrator password. If a user forgets their username and password for the IP Camera, administrators can access this information by logging into the IP Camera Web GUI and opening the path: Configuration → Maintenance → User Management.

  • 2.4 How do I login to the IP Camera Web GUI?

    Please follow the procedure described below:

    1. Launch the EasyConfig software and complete the EasyConfig setup.
    2. When EasyConfig displays the available IP Cameras on the LAN, set your desired IP Camera.
    3. When the installation of the camera is complete, click to launch “Live View”. An Internet Explorer window will open and request the IP Camera login information.
    4. Enter the username and password and you will be connected to the IP Camera Web GUI.
  • 2.5 How do I upgrade the firmware using Microsoft Internet Explorer?

    Before you begin: confirm that the version of firmware you want to upgrade is the correct version for your IP Camera. Firmware is available in three different versions: Economy, Professional, and Advanced. The Firmware Upgrade needs to be done with the Ethernet cable connected between the IP Camera and computer. It is recommended to reset the configuration settings back to the default settings after the FW upgrade is complete.

    1. Launch the EasyConfig software and complete the EasyConfig setup.
    2. When EasyConfig displays the available IP Cameras on the LAN, set your desired IP Camera.
    3. When the installation of the camera is complete, click to launch “Live View” and login to the IP Camera Web GUI.
    4. Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → Firmware Upgrade.
    5. Click “Browse” to locate the firmware file to upgrade. Select the new firmware and click “Upgrade.”
    6. Upgrading the firmware may take a few minutes. Please do not unplug the power or Ethernet cable.
    7. It is recommended to restore the configuration settings to the default settings to ensure that you will get the best performance with the new firmware. To do this, select “Reset To Default” from the Maintenance tools.

    NOTE: BY DOING THIS, ALL PREVIOUS CONFIGURATIONS WILL BE ERASED

  • 2.6 How do I export the IP Camera configuration settings?

    Please follow the procedure described below to export IP Camera current settings.

    1. Login to the IP Camera Web GUI using Internet Explorer.
    2. Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → Configuration.
    3. Click “Export” and choose the location to save the configuration file.
    4. Press “Save”.
  • 2.7 How do I import IP Camera configuration settings?

    Please follow the procedure described below to import IP Camera current setting.

    1. Login to the IP Camera Web GUI using Internet Explorer.
    2. Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → Configuration.
    3. Click “Browse” to locate the configuration file to import.
    4. Select the file and click “Import.” Click “Ok” to apply the new configuration settings.
    5. The restoration process may take several minutes. You will be notified when the process is complete.
  • 2.8 How do I restore the factory default settings?

    There is a Reset Button on your IP Camera which can be used to reset the IP Camera or restore the factory default settings. If the camera experiences a problem, you should first try rebooting the camera. If the problem remains, please restore the camera to factory default settings and set it up again. To use the Reset Button:

    1. Get a probe to press the Reset Button.
    2. To reboot the IP Camera, hold the Reset Button for one second and wait for the camera to reboot.
    3. To restore the factory default settings, press the Reset Button for ten seconds until the LED goes to POST (Power on Self Test).
    4. Open EasyConfig to launch the IP Camera Web GUI and adjust the configuration settings.

Audio and Video

  • 3.1 What is Flickless?

    This function will adjust the electronic shutter speed to decrease color rolling on the camera.

  • 3.2 How do I view IP cameras via internet browsers other than Internet Explorer (IE). (Such as Opera, Firefox, Safari, etc.)?

    IE is the default browser for viewing IP cameras. To use another internet browser, open the IP camera GUI using IE. Open the path: Configuration → Camera/Video/Audio → Video → Video Configuration → Stream. Enable Stream 2, set the Video Codec to MJPEG, and enable HTTP Transport. Click “Apply” to save the new settings. You can now view the IP camera using other internet browsers by using the URL:http:///channel

  • 3.3 What is two-way audio and how do I use it?

    Two-way audio enables you to receive and transmit audio through the IP camera. Check your IP Camera’s user manual to see if your camera offers two-way audio or support for two-way audio. If your camera offers two-way audio support, you may need to attach an external microphone or speaker to use the two-way audio function. To receive audio from the IP camera, open the IP Camera GUI on a notebook or PC equipped with speakers. To transmit audio through the IP Camera, connect a microphone to a PC or notebook and open the IP Camera GUI. Click the talk button from the IP Camera live view.

  • 4.1 What is EasyLink?

    EasyLink is a unique Brickcom feature which uses UPnP to circumvent a router’s firewall and automatically obtain the camera’s IP address. It eliminates the need for you to have to remember a camera’s IP address because the IP camera is now accessible at an easy-to-remember URL which you have chosen.

  • 4.2 How do I configure EasyLink for my IP Camera?

    There are two ways to configure the EasyLink function.

    Using EasyConfig:

    1. Launch the EasyConfig software to access the IP Camera GUI.
    2. Make sure all the cables are secure between your IP Camera and computer.
    3. Connect the IP Camera to EasyConfig.
    4. You can choose either Simple or Professional mode.
    5. If your IP Camera supports EasyLink, you will have the option to adjust the EasyLink Settings. Check the box to enable EasyLink. Enter a domain name whose length must be between 5-32 characters.
    6. For the Refresh Time, select a desired amount of time from the drop-down menu to confirm the connection status.
    7. Continue with the EasyConfig set up.
    8. You will now be able to view your IP Camera from the unique URL that you have chosen.

    Using the IP Camera Web GUI:

    1. Open the IP Camera GUI and open the path: Configuration → Network → EasyLink.
    2. Check the box to enable EasyLink. Enter a domain name whose length must be between 5-32 characters.
    3. For the Refresh Time, select a desired amount of time from the drop-down menu to confirm the connection status.
    4. a. You will be able to use EasyLink if the status shows “Connected.”
    5. b. If the status shows “Disconnected”, you can try restoring the EasyLink connection by clicking “Update Now.” If this does not restore the connection, your IP Camera may be connected to a router that is not compatible with EasyLink. EasyLink communicates with the router via UPnP, which is not supported by older models. Please see the compatibility table below for the list of tested internet router models.

    7. You will now be able to view your IP Camera from the unique URL that you have chosen.

  • 5.2 How do I set up port forwarding on my router so I can remotely view my IP Camera’s Live View?

    Login to your router’s GUI and access the port forwarding page. You need to assign two ports to each IP Camera you wish to view remotely. For your first IP Camera, the default ports should be port 80 and port 55Enter 80 and 554 into the text field for the port number and assign your IP Camera’s IP Address to both ports. Assign two ports to each subsequent IP Camera you wish to view remotely.

    Please Note: If your IP Camera uses a dynamic IP Address and the IP Camera’s IP Address changes, you will need to reassign the ports to the new IP Address. It is recommended that you assign a static IP address to each camera.

  • 5.3 Do Brickcom IP Cameras support “Hot Swap”?

    Brickcom IP Cameras do not support “Hot Swap.” Once you have inserted an SD card into the IP camera, open the IP Camera GUI and open the path: Configuration → System → Storage Management. Click on “Reload” and the IP Camera will register the SD card. Before removing the SD card, open the IP Camera GUI and click “Remove” from the Storage Management tool.

  • 5.4 How do I upgrade my firmware using Microsoft Internet Explorer?

    Please Note: Before upgrading your firmware, confirm that the version of firmware image file is the correct version for the camera device. Firmware is available in three different versions: Economy, Professional, and Advanced.

    5. On the Firmware Upgrade page, click “Browse” to select the firmware image file path to upgrade and then click “Upgrade.”
    6. Upgrading the firmware may take a few minutes. Please do not unplug the power and the Ethernet cable.
    7. It is recommended to restore the configuration settings to the default settings to ensure that the user will get the best performance with the new firmware. To do this, select use the “Reset To Default” under the Maintenance tools. Please note: By doing this, all previous configurations will be erased.
    8. Please check that the current FW version of the device is correct. You can check this under the Device Information.
  • 5.5 Does the default package of the NR-1604 include a Hard Drive?

    No, the hard drive is not included in the default package. Brickcom offers a bundle package which includes a hard drive for the NR-160Please contact your sales representative for more information.

  • 5.6 Does the NR-1604 support the video-out feature?

    No, it does not support the video-out feature.

  • 5.7 How do I use a Media Player (ex. VLC) to display my IP Camera’s Live View?

    Open the Media Player and select “RTSP” as the internet protocol option. For the URL, enter “(Camera IP Address)/channel1” or “(Camera IP address)/channel2”.
