Installation
1.1 How do I use the EasyConfig Wizard?
- Launch the EasyConfig software from your start menu or desktop icon. If EasyConfig is not installed on your computer, insert the Brickcom Software CD into your computer and follow the installation instructions.
- Check “Skip the hardware installation guide” and press “Start” for EasyConfig to skip the hardware installation steps. You can also press “Start” without checking it, and EasyConfig will guide you through the steps to verify the cable connection.
- Select either Simple Mode or Professional Mode for the connection setup. If Simple Mode is selected, EasyConfig will set up the connection automatically. If Professional Mode is selected, you will need to configure the IP Address manually. Click the arrow to continue.
- EasyConfig will search for available cameras on the LAN. Select your IP Camera, enter the camera login information, and press “OK” to continue.
- If Professional Mode is selected, you will be able to manually configure the IP Address Settings. Click the arrow to continue. The DHCP setting is recommended
- If the connection is successful, you will have completed the EasyConfig setup.

1.2 How do I assign the IP Camera a Static IP Address?
Please follow the procedure described below:
- Launch the EasyConfig software from your start menu or desktop icon.
- Make sure all the cables are secure between your IP Camera and computer
- Select Professional Mode to configure the IP address manually. Click the arrow to continue.
- EasyConfig will search for available cameras on the LAN. Select your IP Camera, enter the camera login information, and press “OK” to continue.
- For selecting the IP Address settings, select “Set IP Address configuration manually” and click the arrow to continue.
- Enter the Static IP Address to configure the IP Camera and click the arrow to continue.
- If the connection is successful, you will have completed the EasyConfig setup and assigned a Static IP Address to your IP Camera.

1.3 How do I locate my IP Camera on the intranet??
Please refer to "How to use the setup wizard?"
- Launch the EasyConfig software from your start menu or desktop icon.
- Make sure all the cables are secure between your IP camera and computer.
- You can choose either Simple or Professional Mode.
- EasyConfig will search for available cameras on the intranet. Your IP Camera should be displayed in the list of available cameras. Select your desired IP Camera, enter the camera login information, and press “OK” to continue.
- If EasyConfig does not locate your IP Camera, click “Search again” to have EasyConfig search the intranet again. Also check that the cable connection between your IP Camera and computer is secure.
1.4 What is the difference between Simple Mode and Professional Mode?
To configure the network camera’s IP settings, you can either use the default Simple Mode or Professional Mode. Simple Mode will automatically set up the network connection. This setting is recommended. With Professional Mode, you will be able to configure the IP address manually.
1.5 What languages does your installation and EasyConfig software support?
Our latest Brickcom Software kit (v1.5.6) supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.
Maintenance
2.1 What is my IP Camera’s default administrator username and password?
The default administrator username and password for all Brickcom IP Cameras is “admin” and “admin” respectively.
2.2 How do I change my IP camera administrator password?
Please follow the procedure described below:
- Login to the IP Camera Web GUI using Internet Explorer.
- Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → User Management.
- Enter a new password for the Admin account and confirm the password.
- Press “Update” to change the password.
2.3 What do I do if I forget my username and password for my IP Camera?
The username for the administrator account of the IP Camera is saved as “admin.” If you forget the administrator password, you must restore your IP Camera to the original factory default settings by pressing the reset button on the IP Camera. The administrator username and password will be reset to “admin” and “admin.” If a user forgets their username and password for the IP Camera, administrators can access this information by logging into the IP Camera Web GUI and opening the path: Configuration → Maintenance → User Management.
2.4 How do I login to my IP Camera’s Web GUI?
Please follow the procedure described below:
- Launch the EasyConfig software and complete the EasyConfig setup.
- When EasyConfig displays the available IP Cameras on the LAN, set your desired IP Camera.
- When the installation of the camera is complete, click to launch “Live View”. An Internet Explorer window will open and request the IP Camera login information.
- Enter the username and password and you will be connected to the IP Camera Web GUI.
2.5 How do I upgrade the firmware using Microsoft Internet Explorer?
Please note: Before upgrading your firmware, confirm that the version of firmware you want to upgrade is the correct version for your IP Camera. Firmware is available in three different versions: Economy, Professional, and Advanced. The Firmware Upgrade needs to be done with the Ethernet cable connected between the IP Camera and computer.
- Launch the EasyConfig software to access the IP Camera GUI.
- Make sure all the cables are secure between your IP Camera and computer.
- When EasyConfig has successfully connected to the camera, click “Live View” to launch the camera’s GUI.
- Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → Firmware Upgrade.
- Click “Browse” to locate the firmware file to upgrade. Select the new firmware and click “Upgrade.”
- Upgrading the firmware may take a few minutes. Please do not unplug the power or Ethernet cable.
- It is recommended to restore the configuration settings to the default settings to ensure that you will get the best performance with the new firmware. To do this, select “Reset To Default” from the Maintenance tools.
NOTE: BY DOING THIS, ALL PREVIOUS CONFIGURATIONS WILL BE ERASED
2.6 How do I export my IP Camera’s configuration settings?
Follow the procedure described below to export your IP Camera’s current settings
- Login to the IP Camera Web GUI using Internet Explorer.
- Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → Configuration.
- Click “Export” and choose the location to save the configuration file.
- Press “Save”.
2.7 How do I import my IP Camera’s configuration settings?
Please follow the procedure described below to import IP Camera current setting.
- Login to the IP Camera Web GUI using Internet Explorer.
- Open the path: Configuration → Maintenance → Configuration.
- Click “Browse” to locate the configuration file to import.
- Select the file and click “Import.” Click “Ok” to apply the new configuration settings.
- The restoration process may take several minutes. You will be notified when the process is complete.
2.8 How do I rest my IP Camera to factory default settings?
There is a Reset Button on your IP Camera which can be used to reboot your IP Camera or reset your IP Camera to factory default settings. If the camera experiences a problem, you should first try rebooting the camera. If the problem remains, reset the camera to factory default settings and set it up again. To use the Reset Button:
- Get a probe to press the Reset Button.
- To reboot the IP Camera, hold the Reset Button for one second and wait for the camera to reboot.
- To restore the factory default settings, press the Reset Button for ten seconds until the LED goes to POST (Power on Self Test).
- Open EasyConfig to launch the IP Camera Web GUI and adjust the configuration settings.
Audio and Video
3.1 What is Flickless?
This function will adjust the electronic shutter speed to decrease color rolling on the camera.
3.2 What is two-way audio and how do I use it?
Two-way audio enables you to receive and transmit audio through the IP camera. Check your IP Camera’s user manual to see if your camera offers two-way audio or support for two-way audio. If your camera offers two-way audio support, you may need to attach an external microphone or speaker to use the two-way audio function. To receive audio from the IP camera, open the IP Camera GUI on a notebook or PC equipped with speakers. To transmit audio through the IP Camera, connect a microphone to a PC or notebook and open the IP Camera GUI. Click the talk button on the IP Camera live view page
3.3 What does the Brickcom Cube camera series’ privacy mask function disable?
When a Cube camera’s privacy mask is enabled, it will mask the video and audio transmission
Easy Link
4.1 What is EasyLink?
EasyLink is a unique Brickcom feature which uses UPnP to circumvent a router’s firewall and automatically obtain the camera’s IP address. It eliminates the need for you to have to remember your camera’s IP address because the IP camera is now accessible at an easy-to-remember URL which you have chosen.
4.2 How do I configure EasyLink for my IP Camera?
There are two ways to configure the EasyLink function.
Using EasyConfig:
- Launch the EasyConfig software to access the IP Camera GUI.
- Make sure all the cables are secure between your IP Camera and computer.
- Connect the IP Camera to EasyConfig.
- You can choose either Simple or Professional mode.
- If your IP Camera supports EasyLink, you will have the option to adjust the EasyLink Settings. Check the box to enable EasyLink. Enter a domain name whose length must be between 5-32 characters.
- For the Refresh Time, select a desired amount of time from the drop-down menu to confirm the connection status.
- Continue with the EasyConfig set up
- You will now be able to view your IP Camera from the unique URL that you have chosen
Using the IP Camera Web GUI:
- Open the IP Camera GUI and open the path: Configuration → Network → EasyLink.
- Check the box to enable EasyLink. Enter a domain name whose length must be between 5-32 characters.
- For the Refresh Time, select a desired amount of time from the drop-down menu to confirm the connection status.
- a. You will be able to use EasyLink if the status shows “Connected.”
- b. 5. If the status shows “Disconnected”, you can try restoring the EasyLink connection by clicking “Update Now.” If this does not restore the connection, your IP Camera may be connected to a router that is not compatible with EasyLink. EasyLink communicates with the router via UPnP, which is not supported by older models. Please see the compatibility table below for the list of tested internet router models.

- Click Apply to save the settings.
- You will now be able to view your IP Camera from the unique URL that you have chosen.
EVENTS
5.1 What kind of events or triggers can my Brickcom IP Camera detect? What kind of actions can I configure my camera to take when an event is triggered?
A Brickcom IP Camera can detect events and triggers such as, but not limited to, audio, motion, or PIR (passive infrared). When an event is triggered, you can configure your IP Camera to take video clips or snapshots and store them on the local SD card or send them to a remote location via email, FTP, Samba (NAS), or HTTP.
Please Note: The actual event and action capabilities will vary according to different camera models
5.2 Can I use my Brickcom IP Camera to monitor motion in multiple areas in the field of view?
Yes, you can define up to 3 areas in the field of view for motion detection using the camera’s web GUI. If you use the Brickcom BRC64 PC-NVR, you can define up to 8 zones for motion detection.
5.3 Do Brickcom IP Cameras support pre-alarm buffer recording?
Yes, Brickcom IP Cameras support pre-alarm and post-alarm buffering recording. You can specify the amount of time to be recorded before and after an event is triggered.
ACCESSING MY BRICKCOM IP CAMERA
6.1 How do I view my IP Camera via internet browsers other than Internet Explorer (IE)? Such as, Opera, Firefox, Safari, etc.
IE is the default browser for viewing IP cameras. To use another internet browser, open the IP camera GUI using IE. Open the path: Configuration → Camera/Video/Audio → Video → Video Configuration → Stream. Enable Stream 2, set the Video Codec to MJPEG, and enable HTTP Transport. Click “Apply” to save the new settings. You can now view the IP camera using other internet browsers by using the URL: http://[IPaddress]/channel2
6.2 How do I view my IP camera across an Internet Gateway or firewall?
To view your IP camera across an Internet Gateway or firewall you need to set up port forwarding on the Internet Gateway/firewall to forward the inbound traffic of certain ports to your IP camera. The following is a brief outline of how to set up port forwarding. For more details about port forwarding, Please see your router’s user manual.
- Login to your router’s GUI and access the port forwarding page.
- You need to assign two external ports to each IP Camera that you wish to view remotely, one for the web access and the other one for the video streaming. In common practice, you need to specify the protocol type (TCP), external port numbers (any unused ports between 1024 and 65535), internal port numbers (80 and 554), and IP address of the host (IP camera) on the port forwarding page.
- Assign two ports to each subsequent IP Camera you wish to remotely view.
- 4. To view the IP camera using the IE across an Internet Gateway or firewall, please type http://gateway_internet_ip_address:external_port_for_web_access.
Please Note: If your IP Camera uses a dynamic IP Address and the IP Camera’s IP Address changes, you will need to reassign the ports to the new IP Address. It is recommended that you assign a static IP Address to each camera.
6.3 What media players can I use to view my IP Camera? Where can I download them from?
VLC and QuickTime are two popular media players which you can use the view your IP Camera. To download the VLC player, go to http://www.videolan.org/vlc and select your operating system to download the right VLC binaries. You can download the QuickTime player from http://www.apply.com/quicktime/download.
6.4 How do I use a media Player, such as VLC, to view my IP Camera?
Open the Media Player and select “RTSP” as the internet protocol option. For the URL, enter [Camera’s IP Address]/channel1 to view stream 1 or [Camera’s IP Address]/channel2 to view stream 2. To view stream 2, you need to disable HTTP Transport from the IP Camera’s web GUI.

7.1 What is the maximum storage capacity of the NR-04A and NR-1604?
With firmware version 1.6.2g.30028885 or later, both the NR-04A and NR-1604 provide up to 4 terabytes (2 2TB HDDs) of storage.
7.2 Does the default package of the NR-04A or NR-1604 include a Hard Disk Drive?
No, the hard disk drive is not included with the NR-04A or NR-1604
7.3 Do the NR-04A and NR-1604 support Hot Swap, RAID, or S.M.A.R.T. for the HDDs?
No, the NR-04A and NR-1604 do not support Hot Swap, RAID, or S.M.A.R.T.
7.4 What is the total bit rate supported for live view by the NR-04A and NR-1604?
The total bit rate supported for live view is 8mbps.
7.5 Does the NR-04A/NR-1604 support the video-out feature?
No, video-out is not supported
7.6 How can I embed text to the recorded video from my IP camera using the Brickcom NR-04A or NR-1604?
The NR-04A and NR-1604 can display On-Screen Display (OSD) text on the live video stream, but the displayed text is not embedded to the recorded video. To embed information to the recorded video, you need to access the IP Camera directly and enable the OSD function through the IP Camera’s web GUI.
7.7 What are the supported UPS for the NR-1604?
Any UPS that comes with an RS-232 is compatible with the NR-1604. Connect the RS-232 port of the UPS to the DI 1 and DO 1 ports of the NR-1604 for signal transmission.
MEMORY CARD LOCAL STORAGE
8.1 When I record a video clip from my Brickcom IP Camera and save it to the local SD/SDHC/Micro SD card or PC-NVR, what file format is the video clip file saved as? Does it include a Digital Watermark? If yes, do you provide the authentication software to prove the data integrity? Which standard are you compatible with?
Video clips recorded to a Brickcom IP Camera’s local SD/SDHC/Micro SD card are saved as .mp4 files. When the Brickcom PC-NVR records a video clip from a Brickcom IP Camera, the file format is proprietary and the file is saves as a .bic which can be converted to .wmv.
Our cameras support On-Screen Display (OSD) which can display information such as the date and camera name, but we do not support Digital Watermark on our recorded video clips.
8.2 When I take a snapshot from my Brickcom IP Camera and save it to the local SD/SDHC/Micro SD card or PC-NVR, what file format is the snapshot file saved as? Does it include a Digital Watermark? If yes, do you provide the authentication software to prove the data integrity? Which standard are you compatible with?
Snapshots saved to the Brickcom IP Camera’s local SD/SDHC/Micro SD card or PC-NVR can be saved as .jpg or .bmp files.

8.3 Do Brickcom IP Cameras support “Hot Swap” for the SD/SDHC/Micro-SD card?
No, Brickcom IP Cameras do not support “Hot Swap.” Before you remove an SD/SDHC/Micro-SD card from your Brickcom IP Camera, make sure the camera is not recording to the memory card. To remove the memory card, open the IP Camera GUI and open the path: Configuration → System → Storage Management. Click “Remove” before removing the SD card from the camera.

9.1 What is the difference between the Economy and Professional versions of a Brickcom camera?
